Project work is now in its ninth month and more than 17,700 feet of new drinking water pipeline has already been installed.
Pending favorable weather conditions, final paving is expected to take place on Palos Verdes Drive North (from Dapplegray Elementary School to Montecillo Drive) and Montecillo Drive (between Palos Verdes Drive North and Encanto Drive) next Thursday, March 7, and Friday, March 8, from approximately 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. During work hours, there will be a two-day eastbound lane closure on Palos Verdes Drive North, from Rolling Hills Road to Palos Verdes Drive East with a clearly marked detour for eastbound traffic beginning at Rolling Hills Road and Crenshaw Boulevard. The westbound lane will remain open at all times. Please note that if paving cannot be completed on Montecillo Drive by Friday, March 8, work will continue on Friday, March 15, from approximately 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Nightwork will take place on Palos Verdes Drive North (from Dapplegray Elementary School to Palos Verdes Drive East) to conduct cleaning and grouting of the pipeline in this area. Work is expected to occur from Monday to Friday, between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. There will be at least one lane of traffic open in each direction at all times.
During the day, crews will be conducting minor finishing work, including the cleaning and grouting of pipes, on Palos Verdes Drive North, from Palos Verdes Drive East to Montecillo Drive, and on Montecillo Drive, from Palos Verdes Drive North to Encanto Drive. Work is expected to occur from Monday to Friday, between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. or 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. There will be at least one lane of traffic open in both directions at all times.
Landscape and irrigation system restoration work continues on Montecillo Drive, between Palos Verdes Drive North and Encanto Drive. We are working closely with the Montecillo Homeowners’ Association to coordinate all necessary details.
Nightwork is ongoing in the parking lot of the Rolling Hills United Methodist Church, along the Botanic Garden property near Crenshaw Boulevard, from Monday to Friday, between 7:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. The parking lot will be open to the public after work hours.
Crews are continuing to resolve a conflict with an unmarked utility line in order to continue work in the Botanic Garden Trail, near Lariat Lane. Pipes will be staged in the trail to facilitate nearby work and the trail will remain closed to pedestrians and riders. Riders are encouraged to avoid the work area due to construction-related noise that could startle a horse.
A reminder that the Dapplegray Elementary School access road and Palomino Ranchos Bridle Trail, between the Rolling Hills Little League ballfield and Rolling Hills Road, remain closed to the public. Parents will be able to use the access road leading to the ballfield for practices starting at 3:30 p.m. Visit our equestrian page for a map of current and ongoing trail closures and detours.
Preparatory work is ongoing at the new pump station site on Crenshaw Boulevard. Crews are continuing to clear the area and help facilitate deliveries of materials to the site to prepare for major construction. As part of this work, traffic control will be implemented during work hours, from Monday to Friday, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., to allow for large vehicles to enter and exit safely from the pump station site. There will be at least one lane of traffic open in each direction at all times.
For the most updated information, please refer to the timeline on our Map & Timeline page. Please note that the construction dates outlined are estimates, not exact deadlines, and the duration of nightwork may change based on a number of factors like inclement weather or unknowable field circumstances.
