We want to apologize again for the traffic on Crenshaw Boulevard and say thank you for your patience. We recognize the disruption that this work has caused and we greatly appreciate your cooperation as five crews work day and night to complete this portion of the project as quickly as possible. We know construction is never ideal, but at the end of this project, all Peninsula residents and businesses will be better prepared for the future with continued access to safe, reliable water service for everyday and emergency needs.
Here’s an overview of ongoing project work on Crenshaw Boulevard –
- Construction in the intersection of Crenshaw Boulevard and Silver Spur Road will continue from Monday to Friday, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., until approximately early next week. While work is underway, the signal lights in the intersection are flashing red and traffic control officers are in place daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Please note, there may be periodic impacts to turns when construction vehicles enter and exit the work area, but all left- and right-hand turns are available. Once work in this intersection is complete, traffic control will be removed, and traffic lights will return to their normal, timed cycles. Of note, this work was re-sequenced to occur simultaneously with the other work on Crenshaw Boulevard to shorten the total duration of construction and get traffic flow back to normal as quickly as possible.
- Pipeline installation is ongoing along Crenshaw Boulevard, between Silver Spur Road and south of Chadwick Lane. Crews are in the second phase of 24/7 traffic control, with construction delineators and dual yellow striping along the southbound lanes of Crenshaw Boulevard. Traffic control will remain in place until approximately mid-March and will continue from Monday to Friday, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., with periodic Saturday work. For graphics depicting the second phase of traffic control on Crenshaw Boulevard, please visit our Crenshaw Construction Traffic & Info page here.
Nightwork continues on Crenshaw Boulevard, beginning at the Rolling Hills United Methodist Church and continuing down to south of Chadwick Lane, including the intersection of Crenshaw Boulevard and Palos Verdes Drive North. Work is taking place from Monday to Saturday, between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., and is expected to continue until approximately the end of March. During work hours, there will always be at least one lane of traffic open in each direction.
- The construction laydown yard adjacent to the Landfill Loop Trail is in use during nighttime work hours (Monday to Saturday, 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.) to facilitate ongoing construction in the intersection and to remove excess dirt from the laydown yard.
- Crews are conducting work at the new pump station site on Crenshaw Boulevard, north of Silver Spur Road, which will continue until the end of the project in mid-2020. Work hours are from Monday to Friday, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. 24/7 traffic control is in place, with one lane of traffic open in each direction at all times.
