On behalf of Cal Water, our contractor, and the entire PV Peninsula Water Reliability Project team, we want to say THANK YOU for bearing with us as we completed paving work on Palos Verdes Drive North and Montecillo Drive last Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
As you may know, paving was completed Saturday evening and two-way traffic was restored shortly thereafter. With this portion of work now in our rearview mirror, we wanted to take a moment and thank you for your patience and understanding, and apologize for the inconvenience and frustration it caused.
We especially want to apologize for the failure to reopen the eastbound lane of PV Drive North by 3 p.m. last Thursday and Friday. We encountered a series of unexpected challenges that we addressed in partnership with City inspection staff in an effort to minimize the impacts as much as practically feasible. In the end, we did not deliver on the timeline as promised and for that we take responsibility and recognize that we need to do much better moving forward.
To set expectations, we want to let you know that there will be continuing work on PV Drive North that will require additional traffic control measures at different times throughout the year. For example, crews will soon begin grouting within the pipeline at night, which will require small, partial lane closures around the pipeline access points. At the end of the project, once all seven miles of pipeline is installed, crews will revisit PV Drive North to tie the new waterline into the existing system and remove the final steel plates along the road.
As this project continues, we want to reaffirm our commitment to doing everything we can to minimize the inconvenience for residents and ensure construction proceeds as quickly as possible. Thank you again for your patience.
