First off, we want to apologize for the traffic impacts you have experienced to date on Crenshaw Boulevard and say thank you for your patience! We understand the temporary inconvenience – and headache – this work is causing, and we greatly appreciate your flexibility as crews work to complete this project as quickly and safely as possible.
As a reminder, construction is underway in the intersection of Crenshaw Boulevard and Silver Spur Road from Monday to Friday, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. We expect work to finish in approximately the next week or so, which means there is a light at the end of the tunnel (or pipeline, in this case)! During construction, the signal lights in the intersection will be flashing red and all left- and right-hand turns will be available. Please note, there may be periodic stoppages to allow for construction vehicles to enter and exit the work area, which may temporarily impact the availability of turns. Once work in this intersection is complete, traffic control will be removed, and traffic lights will return to their normal, timed cycles.
It is especially important to us to keep vehicles flowing through this intersection and we have a traffic control officer stationed in the intersection of Silver Spur Road and Crenshaw Boulevard every day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Where possible, we encourage drivers to use alternate routes and navigation apps such as Google Maps, Waze, and Apple Maps to minimize delays due to traffic.
Please note, work also continues north of the intersection on Crenshaw Boulevard, between Silver Spur Road and south of Chadwick Lane. 24/7 traffic control will remain in place until approximately early March. In the event of an emergency, crews are fully trained on how to safely assist first responders in traveling through active work areas.
Thank you again for your continued patience and cooperation. We look forward to bringing this much-needed upgrade to the Peninsula.
